HIGHLIGHTS Mountain bikers and strong hikers will revel in this extended loop trip utilizing the Cold Creek, Monument Pass, Tahoe Rim, and Star Lake trails. Along the way are shady stretches along vigorous Cold Creek, wide-ranging views at the upper elevations, and an opportunity to visit beautiful Star Lake at the base of rugged Jobs Sister. The lake offers wonderful spots for campsites for those who wish to stay overnight. The 16.8-mile distance and 3,000-foot elevation gain make for a long day hike, and the final 2.5-mile descent on oftentimes-steep High Meadows Road can create a tedious end to the trip.

DIRECTIONS From CA 50 in South Lake Tahoe, follow Pioneer Trail 3.2 miles to High Meadows Trail near Sierra House Elementary School (this intersection is 4.5 miles from CA 50 in Meyers). Drive to the end of the pavement at three-quarters of a mile and continue on a dirt road to the trailhead at 1.3 miles from Pioneer Trail.

FACILITIES/TRAILHEAD There are no facilities at the trailhead. The route begins on singletrack trail heading north away from the trailhead signboard.
